I don't know what company paid you too say this but you are so wrong.
Shopsite is horrible for online shopping carts and yes I have built a few websites using it myself. It is for the non developer that doesn't care if their store sucks and looks crappy. It doesn't allow developers to add extended functionality to it and it uses SqlLite as its DB. No website should be using SqlLite for any web application.

On your "easy to use" comments. It is horrible to use. It is very complicated and the navigation sucks. There are plenty of free open source e-commerce solutions out there. that allow developers to add functionality to them like a wish list. where is your wish list Shopsite?

The template system is a disaster to work with and there is no way to build a custom dynamic products navigation with out writing hacks. Oh, and than try and add a design to the actually shopping cart. That is a disaster in its self. He says You don't need to know html but that's because you cant edit any the files because they are compiled cgi files.
Dont let them fool you, this system is not dynamic.

You set your products and pages than it spits out a bunch of html pages which are not dynamic, so when people go to your pages a . If you sell saftey pins and paper clips and don't care what your store looks like than Shopsite is right for you but if you are serious about building an e-commerce store than choose from any of the PHP open source e-commerce solutions available to you.
I personally am trying out zen cart and so far it has been great so far.
