My boy friend and I just returned from a weekend stay at the new Hotel Riu in Guanacaste Costa Rica. It has only been open a week and yet it is running over 60% occupancy according to staff there. Many of my friends and clients have been requesting information so see the video. Although short and sweet, it will give you some idea what to expect from the new exquisite hotel.
We met guests from Germany, USA, Belgium, Costa Rica and Canada and all agreed...this hotel is a winner. You would expect "hick ups" being this new but the Riu has everything covered. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, incredible design, 4 restaurants with international cuisine, multiple bars, a huge Spa and Wellness Centre, a Disco, a Casino, tennis courts, fantastic pools and of course one of the nicest beaches in the Papagayo Region. We have been going to Matapalo Beach on a rough road for the last ten years so it was a dream to go there now, less than 25 minutes from our home in Playa Hermosa and on a newly graded (almost paved) road.
There are watersport activities available, fishing, jet skis, snorkeling etc on the beach. Yes, I am in the tour business but this trip was pleasure and exploration. The Hotel Riu is going to bring in thousands of guests to our area monthly and boost local business in towns that depend on tourism.

stayed in a few RIU hotels before and this one has caught my eye. My only worry is location, are the Pacific waters warm like the Caribbean, and is there much to do/see outside this hotel? Anyone?

Yeah it looks great im just worried about it being a little pricey. I am trying to plan a vacation for 14 people just wondering if you had any tips. Thanks
