Author of Blowback, The Sorrows Of Empire and Nemesis: The Last Days Of The American Empire, Chalmers Johnson has literally written the book on the concept of American Hegemony. A former naval officer and consultant of the C.I.A., he now serves as professor Emeritus at UC San Diego. As co-founder and President of the Japan Policy Research Institute, Mr. Johnson also continues to promote public education about Asia's role in the international community.
In this exclusive interview, you will find out why the practice of empire building is, by no means, a thing of the past. As the United States continues to expand its military forces around the globe, the consequences are being suffered by each and every one of us.

I'm middle class and I get taxed a ton. A third of every check is gone before I get it. We can't simply tax people that have a lot of money. Not only is taxing rich people more unfair, it quite simply ignores the fact that people with money usually have good jobs, influence, and a strong work ethic. People like that are smart enough to stay ahead of a tax happy government - they might take their money overseas.
txmetal34 you expect to be even remotely taken serious when you rant and rave with generalizations and absurdities, and refer to Obama as "Obongo"? No, sorry communism and fascism are not two sides of the same coin, although l'm sure you learned that gem from the John Birch Society. Try actually taking a look at the history of what you're talking about before making up fabrications you heard elsewhere.
The U.S. occupies 174 nations & is the chief supplier of nerve gas, cluster bombs & germ-warfare agents to the world. The U.S. promotes totalitarianism internationally & domestically. The C.I.A. meddles in elections, deposes elected leaders, despoils the land and encourages anarchy. The "federal" government of the United States of America is Mankind's #1 threat.
I do not consider myself lost or confused. Do you win many arguments by trying to piss people off?
It might make you feel good, but it doesn't prove your point. As I point out at the bottom of this post "Socialism" is what the US has used as an excuse for nearly every CIA coup, and then they install a Fascist dictator in place of someone who was democratically elected.
(cont) turned inward, that is the next logical step. This is what the Patriot Act (Bush passed) was created for. One reason why you see huge dissent from the conservative spectrum is the marginalizing rhetoric spewed out from the Obama controlled DHS, classifying as all who dont believe in his view of "change" as domestic terrorists. Both "sides" are polarizing to foment a generated crisis, which will tear the country apart, and help institute a tyrannical takeover by the MIC (Mil Indust. Comp)
Sorry, no. Those "conservatives" are only conservative in name - nothing more. Real conservatives don't exist anymore and the U.S. doesn't have a conservative tradition. If you want to look at a real conservative look at David Hume or Adam Smith. What the U.S. has and calls "conservative" are just radical right-wing reactionaries, and they very much are a threat:
