William Matteuzzi (b. 1957) is an Italian operatic tenor renowned for his impressive vocal range and prominent upper register, reaching a high F (above the tenor high C) in full voice. He is also admired as a fine musician and elegant vocalist.
Here he demonstrates his F5 in a live performance of 'Credeasi Misera' from Bellini's I puritani. I'm not sure who the soprano is.
Matteuzzi first sings a high D with ease, then takes the F a few seconds later and hits it perfectly. I find his and Gedda's 'credeasi miseras' the best renditions.

  • well that's the best F I have heard live and it was certainly full voice. I have been on stagein this opera many times and that was simply the truest high F.

  • FANTASTICO!!!

  • Wonderful. I wish I could find what has become of Antonella

Manotti, co-star with Matteuzzi in 1982 Haydn "Lo Speziale" with Luigi Alva, Marc Andreae +

    Italian Swiss orchestra.

  • His voice is so thin. It doesn't sound terrible, but the timbre is icy and at times it's a bit unsupported. Also, I don't understand why everyone finds Gedda's F to be all that. Listen to Brownlee or Osborn, they do a good job.

  • Yes he gets the High F, but again nowhere near the quality and ease of Nicolai Gedda.

  • That is a clear and ringing F5. Whether it is beautiful, I do not make any comment.

  • This is awful. I don't care about "impressive range" in this case--he sounds like a baby wailing. It is a nasaly, effiminate voice. Also the hop hop hop up the first high D sounds like he's unsure whether to spring off the diviing board or not and take the plunge.....Some things are better left unsung.

  • O_o Horrible. This voice makes me cringe. It is entirely devoid of beauty ... it's really hard to listen to ... great technique, though.

  • SEI UN DIO! W IL FA E CHI LO SA FA..RE!!!!!!!

  • Grande e non come tanti tenori che trasformano questa aria in un belatoio!

  • I think Elvira is Mariella Devia

  • BRAVO! brilliant high F!
