Frank Perry (aka Bowl Man) shows more from his range of singing bowls and plays them. Here we have bowls from Orissa, Nepal, Manipur, Tibet, Lingam Bowl, Elephant Bowl (Mani bowl, Chama bowl, Devil's Head bowl), & Chalice bowl. This last one named by myself. Many of the bowls here are antiques only the Nepalese Tibetan Singing Bowl is new. Again, for the sake of comparison, we have stuck to bowls of similar size and played on the same cushion with the same stick. If you are looking to identify a singing bowl that you have or one that you are thinking of buying then I hope that this helps dispel any confusion.

  • It's amazing how the old tibetan bowl sounds so different, it really has that deep spacey pulse, a very complex and hypnotizing sound, unlike the new bowls or those glass "crystal" bowls that we see everywhere !

  • Interesting that you should say hypnotising sound - this particular bowl is very useful for recalling past lives! Ah, yes, those glass bowls - of course, glass is a far less flexible medium than metals and thus not so suited to harmonics or overtones. I hope that you will enjoy the other parts of this series when you have time and if you have the inclination.

  • The 800 years old bowl truly has a very spacey and deep sound!

  • @Hellchoir Yes this bowl has over twenty sounds in its makeup. Very rich and more than most of my other bowls. A real treasure!

  • I wonder if that's where church bells comes in. And horns tribes used to blow in tribal times. humm.

  • Great to find some clarity on this subject. Some fascinating bowls here and it also helps me to work out which bowls he's plpaying in his concerts here on YouTube! Great. Thanks SO much!
