Viki, that was absolutely brilliant..... this beautiful Irish song was borrowed by Flotow for his opera 'Martha', first performance Vienna 1847...the words come all the way from Co kilkenny Ireland by the Irish poet Thomas Moore....its great in any language..,'Tis the last rose of summer left blooming alone, all her lovely companions are faded and gone'.....

"Last Rose Of Summer" ist ein uraltes irisches Volkslied und durchaus keine Opernmusik. Flotow hat sich dieser Melodie in seiner Oper für die Arie "Martha Martha du entschwandest" lediglich bedient.
