Good alternative. I'm planning to make my own wax bullets for target shooting and training at home.

You will enjoy being able to practice at home with these. It's not the same as practicing with real ammo, no recoil, no follow-up shots, but it's still fun and useful training and cheaper than shooting .22lr. These may break the skin at close range though. I use to do this with a .45 but the 9mm seem to fly much faster and I am not using a flat nose wad cutter.

I agree with you, the 45acp by nature is a low velocity projectile and the best bet in this case is a 9mm. I use live ammunition as well but with the incredible rise in ammo prices, training with wax bullets is the way to go.
