xbox 360 elite noise + quiet dvd gaming fix

This system has both the Nidec fans and the benq drive which are supposed to make the least noise out of the possible 360 revisions. However when a game is playing the drive spins up to full speed creating a lot of whir noise. Sadly the 360 is a very loud by design but i've found a way to fix it. You can find the info here:

The difference is amazing when gaming! Using this trick keeps the 360 hardly any louder than it is when idling on the dashboard and i've notice no difference or problems in games i've tried it with.

Spread the word and hopefully microsoft will release an update to reduce the drive speed through the dashboard.

I got my 360 2 weeks ago. Sure, it's louder than my PS2, but not THAT loud... Besides, I got a surround sound to drown it out.

I always install the games on the hard drive, and it is not loud....

maybe you should try and install the game to the hard drive insted of not. then no noise at all

I have a Xbox Elite and can tell you that the DVD drive indeed can be a bit noisey sometimes when its reading. It's such a great gaming machine, tho.
