The league asked for each team to maintain an account balance of $1,000,000 in order to secure their place in the league. Over the last few years, the NBL has had clubs dropping like flies and not being able to pay their players. This forced liquidity was designed to be a safeguard against this happening. Problem is, the Hawks couldn't afford it.
