nobody has to believe every word of the Bible (I'm a Christian and even I don't) but we shouldn't throw away the Book's lessons just because a bunch of douchebags in Italy and the deep south screwed it up.

I'm getting tired of having to constantly repeat myself to both Atheists and Fundamentalist Christians. I myself am a Christian but people need to realize that the Bible is just a book of stories and metaphors meant to point people in the right direction, when people begin interpreting the Bible literally, then the religion becomes warped into something its not. As a result people leave the faith, lose hope, and start spewing a bunch of shit out of their mouths.

This further proves that the bible is unreliable. It has so many contradictions, as well as immoral passages in it. Re-writing the bible isn't going to help it at all. How can Christians claim that it is the "word of God", when "God's word" has been written by man?

Um, the actual meanings of many things have been changed. The contents of the bible have been decided by political committes. Eg. council of nicea. It doesn't really matter though, because the bible is a total corruption of truth anyway you look at it.
