A longer version of the evacuation. Guests were evacuated from the Quality Hotel in middle of night after the fire alarm began sounding. It was a false alarm - there was no fire - the alarm system was defective. A member of the hotel staff was unable to open a fire exit door, at the foot of the stairs, and so guests from the first floor were directed out through the main entrance, instead of what was supposed to be the appropriate (and the quickest) exit. At some stage, an unknown person began to unreel a fire hose on the first floor, which you can see at the end of the video. Throughout the video you will hear people complaining about the noise of the alarm, even after all the guests had been allowed back to their rooms. The alarm continued sounding every 30 seconds for about half an hour. I did not see the fire brigade attend, which I thought was normal (especially for a hotel). Whilst there was no danger, it does seem worrying - especially the defective fire exit, someone (maybe a drunken guest) tampering with the fire reel, and the non-attendance of the fire brigade.

they kept on resetting the panel as you can hear in the background and they have not reset a call point, smoke detector or any device that set it off, will say on panel which zone has been activated so they would have to search for the device thats setting it off

sounds like they keep resetting the panel but it goes back in to alarm because the smoke detector or call point has not been reset
