Khadija Ben Gana, an Algerian journalist of the Arab television station Al Jazeera, granted an interview to H2onews in Cyprus during the recent Interreligious Encounter promoted by the Community of Sant'Egidio.Khadija is committed to interreligious dialogue and explains why it has yet to be fully implemented."I believe that this dialogue is very important. We must continue to promote it in order for it to survive. We need this dialogue today. But the dialogue must remain only a dialogue of cultures or religions because politics is what destroys everything. We must recognize that what disrupts the dialogue is politics."Khadija Ben Gana explains interreligious dialogue from the perspective of a Muslim involved in the media. She believes the priority must be to bring down barriers."We believe in dialogue; I am a Muslim, and in Islam, God says in the Koran: We created you peoples and tribes so you know each other, and this knowledge is the main key to dialogue, so we know each other, because each of these parties ignores the other. Let us know each other first to promote this dialogue and to banish these barriers between us."
