Does the Black Church Keep Black Women Single and Lonely?
On my blog http://setfreefromtheic.wordpress.com, I respond to a blogger by the name of Deborrah Cooper on the subject of Black Women and their dismal plight of being found by a single Christian male in the Black Church. Her blog can be read here: http://survivingdating.com/?p=1229
Why are so many Christian Black women single, many often past their 40's? Where are the men to marry them? Are Black women limiting themselves to black men only and should they expand their horizons? Are there any behaviors or stereotypes about the Black woman that need to be addressed, and if so what are they?
Could it be that their service to the Institutional Church has rendered Black women unavailable for courtship? Do leaders at an Institutional Church benefit if Black women in their congregations marry? What say you?
