ANCHOR:
Protests by Tibetans have continued in New Delhi. The Olympic torch is due to arrive in the Indian capitol, and the protesters have upped their efforts, attempting to storm the Chinese embassy. Here's more:
STORY:
A large group of Tibetan protesters wearing black headbands and yellow
jackets with anti-China slogans, stormed a street near the Chinese diplomatic
mission on Wednesday.
The protesters raised slogans demanding freedom for Tibet.
The protest was quickly met by the police who arrested many protesters, herding them unto waiting buses.
China reacted strongly after Tibetan exiles scaled the walls of the
Chinese embassy in New Delhi last month and authorities in the Indian capital have increased security along Raj Path, the route for Thursday's Olympic torch relay.
The relay route length has been trimmed to three times less than the
originally scheduled 9 km, for fear that Tibetan protesters might try to disrupt the procession.
The CCP regime in China has voiced its anger against the disruptions in the torch relay and warned of harsh punishment for those involved in the unrest in Tibet.
India and neighbouring Nepal have been witnessing almost daily protests
by Tibetan exiles.
