The Kumeyaay, are one of the many Native American tribes split by the US-Mexican border.
We are divided by the border.

We live in the states of California (in the U.S.) and Baja California (in Mexico). In Spanish, the name is commonly spelled kumiai.

We are one of 68 Native American Indigenous people recognized by the government of The United Mexican States (Mexico)

Los Kumiai somos un frupo indigena divididos por la frontera de EE.UU - Estados Unidos Mejicanos. Vivimos entre ambas fronteras, en el suroeste de California y el noroeste de Baja California.

Los kumiai vivimos en trece reservaciones en San Diego, llamadas Barona, Campo, Capitán Grande, Cuyapaipe, Inaja, Jamul, La Posta, Manzanita, Mesa Grande, San Pascual, Santa Ysabel, Sycuan, y Viejas. Además, como se ha dicho, ocupamos cuatro ejidos en el estado de Baja California, que son La Huerta, Juntas de Nejí y San José.
