fingersandiemacht -- Nikon and Canon are not better, they're just different SLR systems. The E-520 is a fine and capable mid range SLR that would work for many people especially you were packing out for field work and weight was an issue. It's also an interesting note the the Oly shoots brighter at a lower ISO than Nikon or Canon. This could lead to better real world prints, especially where grain and noise are concerned.

Of course canon and nikon are better but they also cost alot more than the olympus and also the cost effectiveness is better by the olympus ... another point is that this olympus is a digital slr camera for BEGINNERS and beginners can learn photography much easier with this cam as with an canon or nikon ... oh and by the way it is called CANON not CANNON XDDD
