I suppose this fellow is an old hand at driving steamers, then? He might've been a regular driver in the days of steam on JNR.
One question I've got is why the whistle lever's on the fireman's side of most Japanese engines? It robs the driver of one of the great pleasures of running steam, blowing "the tooter"!
As for myself, the only real steamers I've driven have been in miniature, but I still find this very realistic.
Otherwise, it's Railworks and MSTS that makes up most of my experience.

Yes. It is as you understand.
In the route of the ATC method, including Shinkansen, there are neither a signal of the ground nor a sign of speed restrictions. Therefore, there is no necessity of SISA-KANNKO.
However, because the observance of the ground signal and speed restrictions is absolutely necessary for the safety operation, the driver is doing a certain signal confirmation with SISA-KANNO for P type that is ATS.

Oh, may I understand that the train that has ATC doesn´t need to do Sisa-Kannko? Or that the trains that are equiped with ATC and with S-Kannko have a system that it´s called ATS-P? And yes, the ringing control is more developed here, do a search on YOUTUBE for "RENFE - Explicación ASFA", it´s in Spanish, but I think that you will understand more or less the basic concepts as I do with the Japanese ones :P

SO-DESUKA
Also in Japan, it is usual in the vehicle of the signal that is called ATC on the car not to do SISA-KANNKO. However, SISA-KANNKO is done by the signal confirmation in the route controlled with the system that is called ATS-P. Spain thinks that the ringing control is advanced.
Gracias!

Iie. There´s an automatic security system called "ASFA", works more or less like the "ATC". I think that here in Spain we didn´t work with Shisa-Kanko in the present or in the past.

I have a question. In the railway in Spain, is the motorman does point and confirming it?

Arigato gozaimasu for the translation of the video. I´m really interested in Japanese trains.
Regards from Spain ;-)

Thank you for the comment.
How in this?
I'd imagine this fellow is an old hand at this sort of thing, and I'd imagine that most drivers who've operated a D-51 would find this a pretty good simulation, don't you think?
I wish I had this thing in my garage, It'd certainly be handy on a rainy day!

@Shipwright1918 This simulator, Ferrari F50 for example may take more than the cost.
But I think there worth it!
