OPTI-4 can go screw. When I repowered my 1971 Ariens this past October, (2011), OPTI told me unless the seller of the engine sold me the OPTI-4, there was no extra two years Oh, OPTI bragged about the product but when push came to shove, they didn't want to know me. I had every intention of using this product, but OPTI-4 made my mind up for me. It shouldn't matter who sells me the product, since they claim that they would know if I used the product if the engine ever failed.

@pat12047 I have the same year as the original poster, except mine is the 11 hp 358cc (1130 DLE) with the Tecumseh engine. I went and listened to a 2012 Ariens of the same size as mine, only it had the B&S Motor, and I gotta tell you, I was not impressed with the Briggs and Stratton's noise level....that engine is way much noisier than the Tecumseh, plus when they shut it off, it backfired 3 times. Did the same with 2 other units as well. I'll stick with Tecumseh thank you very much.

Thanks for the tip on the Opti-4 oil. I wasn't aware of it. Even though we have Ariens, I would have purchased the oil, had I known about it, for the additional warranty.
Nicely done video.
I bought my Ariens last year too and it did the job every time. I used stabilizer and it started right away yesterday.
We are getting 6-12 inches today and I have to make sure I finish because the temperature will drop below zero tonight (NW Illinois).
I am happy to be an Ariens customer.
Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Healthy New Year to all!

Thanks man for the reply - do you have a video of your machine in action. What model do you have? And how long have you owned it? Its stormy here today but the snow has changed to rain-its very sloppy and slushy right now.
Happy holidays back at ya !!!! Cheers

I bought a 624E from GrandRiver Sales last year too. John was great to deal with. It was great having that machine last year as we got snow in mid november and it never stopped until spring. even though it's compact and has 6 hp that thing went thru the EOD crap no problem. I end up doing about 3-5 neighbours driveways, walks and EOD everytime. Way Too Much FUN ! ! ! !

Right on man - you ready for lots of snow this year. I know I am. If you have a camera take a video of that orange baby and welcome to team orange. John was excellent to deal with - did you purchase the Opti 4 oil ? Im going to crank my machine over this weekend and fire her up for a bit. Hope she runs like a cheeta and purs like a kitten.

fired mine up about 3 weeks ago. started first pull. i didn't purchase the Opti 4. I figured hey, it's an Arien's with a Tecumseh engine. nothing but top quality. it's like buying a toyota and getting the extended warranty. not required, in my opinion. Changed the oil in the spring before i put it away and stabalized the fuel. don't forget to buy a grease gun and top up the grease in the auger shaft. (Cdn Tire has a mini grease gun for $13.79). JUST WAITING FOR THE SNOW NOW.
