逝去的愛 was originally recorded as the Japanese "うわさのディスコ・クイーン" (Love Is Over) by 歐陽菲菲 in 1979. After being an album success in Japan, it was recorded yet again, this time in Mandarin, known as "逝去的愛" collected in the 1984 "不要離開我" album. Another Japanese version that floated around in 1980 was "ラブ・イズ・オーヴァー" by 美空ひばり (Hibari Misora); however, not nearly as well known as 歐陽菲菲's Japanese recording. The Mandarin version, yet again a success, reached Hong Kong, where it was recorded in Cantonese by 2 singers, 2 with different lyrics. 甄妮 and 梅艷芳 both recorded the song in 1984; "再度孤獨" recorded by 甄妮 in the album "甄妮" and "逝去的愛" recorded by 梅艷芳 in the album "飛躍舞台". However, the truly successful Cantonese version was 甄妮's "再度孤獨"; the news that the song was written about the feelings of 甄妮, because her husband (傅聲/張富聲) got into a car accident and died, really reflected how she felt and like the song suggests "Loneliness Again". 梅艷芳's version became less heard off, and less recorded, even though she brought the "歐陽菲菲" style of singing in the Cantonese version; however, both versions of the song really reflect "Love at its Absolutely Emptiness". The original Japanese recording was composed by 伊藤薰 (Kaoru Ito), the original Mandarin recording was written by 蔣榮伊; 鄭國江 wrote the lyrics to "逝去的愛" by 梅艷芳, 趙文海 arranged the composition. For "再度孤獨" by 甄妮, 林振強 wrote the lyrics.

Thank you so much for posting this song. This Version is so much better than the Mandarin version and definitely better than Jenny Tseng's version of Love is Over.

Anita Mui is able to touch upon the emotional feel in this song.
