Now any hope is lost...the scrapping process has already started..the sun shines into the cardeck...

R.I.P. unique G.T.S. FINNJET!!!

That's a really sad end for such a wonderful ferry!

In june 2008 the famous GTS Finnjet reached the Alang srapyard for demolition. start of scrapping was announced for the 4th. of july. there is still little hope to save her! she is still untouched!

on 21th august a inspection team left finland for visit in alang to get knowlegde about finnjet's condition and refloating possibilities. you see, something's going on!

FINNJET is still the fastest ferry worldwide (33,5 knots) and the only one powered by gas turbines.

Don't let this unique ship die!

  • R.I.P GTS Finnjet, Ruostu Rauhassa...

  • They havent cut her yet! Because they agreed with the Finnish Team to leave her untouched because so many wanted to save her. And they promised because people there's interested in saving her already have the money to buy her back!

And also, the scrapper would had got better financial benefit from selling it than scrapping it, since Finnjet actually caused heavy losses to that scrapyard. (If I remember correctly)

  • @tubeless2552

Well, that is true. Maybe they should have join forces to get Finnjet out of there. You know those two "factions" together would have had (maybe) quite good chance to "rescue" it...

  • @1989SupraGuyFIN

Don't tell me that I am coming here and trying to be clever. I still stand by what I say, those "factions" clearly did not have a business brain among them, or enough clout - they were both FAILURES. Failures, failures, failures. Someone should have tried a lot harder.....clearly.

  • sad so sad she had many more years in her!

  • The Alang scrapyard is a symptom of our sick world. The GTS Finnjet is forever in our minds though!

  • I seen her many times during my days onboard the norwegian M/S ESTRELLA. We always logged her above 30 knots.

En sitte oo vieläkää ostanu uusia maaleja tilalle... Ollu samassa kunnossa jo kohta 2 vuotta, siis se pienoismalli... Siis tosi pahasti kesken... Että silleen. Pitäs jossain vaiheessa hommata niitä maaleja lisää...

  • @tubeless2552

There were one or two different "factions" that tried to save it, but they both didn't succeed... So, think about that next time, before coming here and try to be clever...

  • @1989SupraGuyFIN Oli tuo kyllä ruma siihen aikaan, mutta joskus 10-15v sit tuli ostettua se revellin pienoismalli Finnjetistä symphonyltä, tarvis vaan jossaa kohtaa kasata :)

  • very sad ending, just like the beloved Norway
