Encompassing 64 acres within the resort, the Nature Reserve is a conservation effort between the Sabah State Wildlife Department and Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. The Reserve is aimed primarily at nature conservation and Orang Utan rehabilitation, with research, study and education activities carried out as well. The Rehabilitation Programme for Orang Utans is the only one of its kind on the west coast of Sabah (Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre in Sandakan on the east coast is the main Orang Utan rehabilitation centre in Malaysia).

The Nature Reserve is part of Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort. The resort is spread out on 470 hectares where the rainforest meets the sea. Within the resort is also Dalit Bay Golf and Country Club. A championship course surrounding the entrance of Rasa Ria.

Im heading of too borneo 31st august with my girlfriend and this will be one of the hotels ill be stopping at, im also staying a few nights a the borneo rainforest lodge! i really cant wait!! I spend nearly all my wages every month making the payments towards this trip for us.. but I dont care as this is somewhere I have always dreamed of going.. and LeeClaxton i agree, your an arsehole.. orangutangs are endangered and wouldnt do fuck al to hurt you. if you dont like them dont visit borneo. easy
