@asonofleemarvin I just learned in school (I'm 16 so i guess I'm part of your generation, although if you're comment is 3 years old I guess you're 26 now, don't know) that the atomic bomb survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were actually restricted from talking about it by the govn of Japan. didn't get to speak until very recently. that killed me! WWI is too long ago but I think anyone who is old enough to remember the WWII era should talk about it. same goes for the Cold War, more recent

lol I think the man from your village was only trying to be amiable in a backward sense lol There seems to be a taboo or a self enforced taboo about talking about the war. The war generation should realise they dont have to keep shtum about the war and no longer have to 'not grumble' about the hardships and extraordinary experieneces they went through, because my generation (I'm 23) feel quite alienated from what happened in the 1st and 2nd world war.

"wrinklies and crinklies"? "whinging"? You always make me smile, Peter! I love your readings, and want to own "All the Way Through". Is it available on your website? Anyway, thank you, I'm off to the next blog...
