The director is just doing his job and actors are in their characters...directors there to direct and is the head of film crew...He is creating the scene and framing it so its is never less than 3 takes to do any scene...NEVER...The director is making it seen in varies ways so he can help create the illusion of the scene and bring the action to its fullest so it becomes professional quality work made for audiences and less chaos in the editing room!! xP

Lesson in film and tv...work days= 12hrs or more to even 20hrs...depending on each shoot date location and timing on props set ups and etc...Kissing scene is one of the more simple ones everyone...Nothing here...just perfect amount of takes...done and moving on...and probably still took an hr to do this scene because of dialog they had before this kiss was shot and change of camera angle & there's a switch of all camera equipment fm 1 spot to the next to get every angle....
