This is not only for the comfort of the rider, but also for the preservation and integrity of the horses legs and energy. They were originally used to work cattle on the massive ranches in Brazil and can still be found there today. This breed is in the Guiness Book of World Records for the longest equine ride ever made. Thanks for your interest and great question.

Thank you, and great question. The importance of their special gait is something that evolved over 200 years ago. This is the only breed with this particular cadence. They briefly have 3 feet on the ground during their "trot" or gait. This takes the concussion of the foot fall out for the rider. Most gaited horses have some version of this. The difference is this gait was designed for long distace travel and efficiency.
