How To Destroy Angels - A Drowning TRACK REVIEW

Track Review: How To Destroy Angels - A Drowning from their upcoming EP due out sometime in 2010.

Trent Rezor is back with a new project with his wife Mariqueen Maandig and Atticus Ross. A Drowning has a huge Nine Inch Nails sound with very soothing vocals from Mariqueen. The pianos remind me alot of the NIN track Right Where it Belongs. Even with a huge NIN feel, it really does have some amazing moments, hooks, and ambiance that truly comes together nicely. This is one of those tracks that put chills down your spine for sure. Can't wait for the EP.

Great review man, I agree. A lot of NIN fans are unsure about HTDA, but i'm like you, when I lisened to HTDA i still got smacked in the face with some awesome NINlike sounds.

@illuminatijews You kinda just described the albums when he was a drug-addict, heh, which everyone, including me, seems to enjoy . Did you like And All That Could Have Been? (kinda when he was cold-turkey) I don't believe he quit caring about his work, even though I'm extremely cynical. I like his newer albums but even if his music was arguably not as good, it's because depression is the best inspiration, but would you want him to be in the same place as he was when he wrote The Downward Spiral?

I think Trents last good album was " the fragile". After that, he stopped caring about his music. It seems as if, he kept repeating the same thing over, and over again. His ability to create scenery, and emotions was good, but his songwriting just went down the hill. I'll admit, it sounds good, but gets boring after listening to it the second time. I dont think this girls is right for Trent, it seems as if she just got with him to make herself famous.

I'm glad you appreciate this new band, because it seems like most die hard NIN fans are for some reason pissed off about his wife. I actually enjoyed her vocals a lot on this song.

actually it sounds like trent learnt how to play a new instrument.... the woman instrument... lolz sorry i love trent as well and i just cant help it think that his wife's only input to the whole project is her voice... hhahaha but you know thats fine two, i just want to listen to more nine inch nails really. i hope they tour.... after their kid is old enough for a babysitter :/ lolz

HTDA is such a flop. Rich assholes playing expensive equipment ripping off indie bands. Plus the singer is terrible. Flat, monotone, and no emotion. Better go back to Playgirl to show off your dick Mariqueen.

Actually, you can give that extra .5 points. Trent did do some vocals in there. :D It's mild, and can mostly be heard near the end, but they're there!
