Most refugees or immigrants to australia have been demonised in one way or another, the Irish are a prime example. As for wanting to newcomers to assimilate and integrate those terms were used by the govt in the 60's to make aboriginals give up their history and culture. If they didn't they ended up on the fringes of society.
