Santa Maria dei Miracoli, an extraordinary little church built by Pietro Lombardo who was its architect and main sculptor, is one of the first examples of Renaissance art in Venice. The church's interior as well as the exterior consists entirely of various types of true, polychrome marble and is widely referred to as the "Marble Church". The church has not been subjected to any subsequent modifications or alterations, and for this reason it is one of the rarest churches in Venice.
