Occupy Iowa City Mic Checks Wal-Mart

Members of Occupy Iowa City Mic Check Wal Mart on Thanksgiving night after their Black Friday sales had started. Audio only, couldn't get video as we were instantly swooped by several staff, and members of management, at one point there is a gap in the mic check because management was ripping the paper's out of our hands. Luckily we had extras!! We were escorted out of the building, but due to the crowds we were able to finish our mic check as we got to the front door. It was truly epic!!!

Billy. We obviously have differing opinions on Wal Mart and just how critical it is to provide awareness. I would have loved to stay and discuss that night, however just as the movie ended, I had an emergency I had to take care of. I did not expect to have to leave so abruptly. I even had to ask Ben to close up.

I apologize that we are not tickling your fancy Billy. I understand and respect your viewpoints, I just don't agree. That is one great thing about America, we can disagree.

@occupyictom Was that the entire goal of the event, "awareness"? Awareness of what? You guys went into a store and started yelling talking points from a 6 year old documentary. Do you really think that the action had any positive effect on the people shopping there? If so, what?

Tom. I'm disappointed with the group. While it might feel good to perform such an action it was not useful or productive and only portrays the group in a negative light.

btw. I was also disappointed that the group was not interested in discussion at the Walmart high price of low prices movie night the other night.
