@RTiger18 its the same engine. and u don't need dual discs up front for this bike. i love this bike for its great drivetrain and simplicity but at most angles it doesn't look pretty. i think it looks best from the rear quarters and sides.

for the guy asking about brakes on the ex500 (still a gpz500s) the single brake caliper has two big pistons and a much bigger brake pad. i can get mine from 0 to 100mph and stop in 800 meters... and that is using the front single disk, it made the tyre squeal and on the point of locking up the front. i suppose twin discs with the smaller pads just even out the forces on the forks and reduces any twisting moment on the fork legs. either way an excellent bike.

my 1987 #292 a1 is sexier .. the first few hundred had a diff paint job .. i had to pepaint the decals and make new ones because i couldnt find them

Is the gpz 500 faster than the ex500r?
How come the gpz comes with dual disc brakes and the ex only has 1?Somebody school me on that real quick
