With the MOTOR running. Smooth pick-up and GO power, no hesitation. When pushed hard, it provides good steady acceleration, no complaints. This is the 307 V-8, with a 4-barrel carb. Made out of the Oldsmobile division vin. code-"Y". The 307 is a better built motor then the 305 made by the Chevy division.

  • my 350 in my roadmaster can be aggrivating to start after it sits a while... Been like that for years now... But I still like the 350's and 305's over the 307's. Had one 307 and it seems underpowered to me especially in a large car...

  • @biglinc1, yes it is a low power engine. But very reliable and can go for hundreds of thousands of miles. Also i have owned all the engines u mentioned and i get better fuel milege in the 307. But jus like u, i am a big fan of the 350. I had a 350 in my 1990 cadillac brougham, but i very recently took it to a machine shop and had them rebuild and modify it. Its now a 6.0 instead of a 5.7. Due to also changing its bore and stroke. I also had them do a 3 angle valve comp job. & performance parts.

  • Very nice car!

  • @lookhear49, THANKS!! And i still have it, now approaching 330,000 miles. THanks for commenting, i do appreciate it. -BOGAR!

  • @j45007 im sorry im going to have to disagree on the reliability part my grampa has a buick wagon with a 307 not even at 100k miles an it smikes knocks an is pretty much trash an its actually been maintaned (oil every 3k) an he also has a chevy wagon 305 that has no problems an has over 400k miles on it an runs like new

  • had a 1981 Delta 88 w/ the 307, currently have 1995 Roadmaster LT1... the 307 was great, as is the LT1 but I could live without the LT1's wonky ignition system, especially when trying to pass a flooded underpass!!!

  • @j45007 I'm more a Ford fan than a GM fan, and prefer the 4.6L Ford engine in the full size cars... I really never understood why that GM didn't improve on their v8's in their full size cars when they revamped the B-body sedans and wagons in 1991... (or even prior to)... Another thing I never quite understood with GM was keeping a carburated engine through 1990, when Ford was utilizing the port-injected 302, although still not a strong performer, was still ahead of the carb and tbi on GM.

  • i've had many a 307 olds motor in my day. i think it really is impossible to blow one up. never had one let me down.

  • mine is a 4.3 litre v8

  • that dont look like an 83 i have an 83 and it looks nothing like that

  • i have a 84' LeSabre Limited with 307..all white with blue guts.i was thinking about selling it but now i might keep it..gotta love old car..yo buick nasty tho bro
