I wonder why is Breguet bahind Patek Philippe? Well, I dont know much about the watches, but its older brand, they are pioneers in many things and people wore them such as Louis XVI, Bonaparte, Churchill, Alexander I, Talleyrand, Marie Antoinette (well, she didnt, I guess), Medvedev, Sarkozy, and many others.

nice vid, and great analogy with the cars. indeed the pateks are rolls royces.....well made/finished, but really aren't doing much nowadays. JLC, Mercedes S class......not the most expensive, pushing the envelope, heart and soul of watch industry.

Patek Phillipe

Jaeger-leCoultre (probably the best all round watch manufacture of all time)

A. Lange.......

VC and AP were there, slowly falling away (especially VC), Breguet were once great also.

i just bought a PP calatrava 5120j and i also own rolex daydate1,to be honest i checked out the lange1 this is as good as the PP,but the brightness and extremely detailed PP is unmatched,it glitters and give me the most exclusive feel and thankfully it is very discreet,so patek thank you for what you stand for

For serious and knowledgeable collectors, all the brands you mentioned are tier one brands. In my opinion, Patek might have achieve 99.9% where as Lange, Breguet and JLC are not far behind. One brand you had not mentioned is Vacheron Constantin. Vacheron I think is a very close competitor of Patek, even closer competitor than Breguet and JLC.. Some collectors even consider Lange is as good as Patek..

For mass production brands, none come close to Rolex and Omega,I think.
