They performed this song on Carson Daly recently and the choice of song begs the question of why they chose this particular song. I think it has to do with the fact that there weren't many people who had heard of Blind Pilot in the audience and so they chose this song because of it's 'clap-along' kinda vibe. I mean, people in that audience had to have Top 40ish musical tastes in the range of Fall Out Boy and who's that other cotton-soft punk/screamo tween band I'm thinking of...My Chemical Romance? Well, whatever. Let me just add that this song is pretty complicated, what with different tempos and progressions. Hope the audience enjoyed it at least. I know Blind Pilot did.
You're misinterpreting what i wrote. I said that the audience from the Carson Daly Show may have "screamy, Top 40ish" musical tastes--i never said this song had that quality. My "lead in" clearly refers to when they performed on that show. You must have read over this very quickly and for that i cannot apologize. Hope you're having a better day.

I love this song, and being that it's my favorite on the album, I am miffed/baffled by the pretentiousness of your lead in to it. Nothing in the composition of this song even moderately resembles the "screamy, Top 40ish" genre that includes bands like "Fall Out Boy", and "My Chemical Romance". There is nothing wrong with writing a catchy tune, even if simple and absent of complex musical progressions.
