At last the tutorial on the orange dress!

Check out my tutorials about making your own patterns (for if you don't have a dressform):
Cute summer dress: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf-JMIDP-B8
Strapless prom dress: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evh_nnhCljo
Flirty wrap dress: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Igx6N6Gh5-I

The fabric I used this time is a very cheap velvet (the kind that is always used for halloween costumes), costing me no more than 10 dollars :)

What I used for the pattern-making is some synthetic organza.. but really you can use any fabric as long as it's not too thick and not elastic, I always use left-over pieces from other projects.

I did not know all the sewing terms in english.. so I hope it's understandable! All questions of course are welcome!

Note that I taught myself how to sew, so my methods are not always conventional.. if you happen to have tips I would love to hear them :)

The song is 'Tree', from the Rusted Root album 'Cruel Sun' (1992). Check out their website for they are amazing: www.rustedroot.com

  • @7iggy please put up a video showing how the pattern pieces go together i'm kinda confused you because you showed the pattern pieces separately :) the dress is so beautiful by the way

  • @krazybirch I'm sorry, but all you need to know is in the video. But here's a tip: sometimes when I don't understand a pattern I just cut it out for a barbie doll and pin it onto that to see how it works. It can really make things simple and clear for you and it's very handy in learning how to make your own patterns :)

  • Where did you buy the mannequin? if you dont mind me asking. P.S. I loved the dress, it was elegant but still sexy :)

  • @LoveIsCourage I got it from the internet years ago, but don't remember either the brand or the store. It was a company that also sold several sewing machines though. Just look it up on ebay, I guess you'll find some there.

  • @LittleChenilleAlex I can't find your video..?

  • @7iggy Can you do a tutorial on the dresses in my video called "Prom Dresses" especially the 3rd and 4th ones.

    Thanks anyway :-P

  • @LittleChenilleAlex Thank you! Unfortunately I don't have time to start such a business, I would love to but want to finish my study first..

About the mannequin: I bought it on the internet, via a dutch sort of ebay. There's no label or whatsoever on the form itself and I threw the box away so I don't remember its exact name.. It was 100 euros and with that the cheapest one out there, and it quicky had some flaws (the mechanisms don't always work). Just find one on internet!

  • Could you give me more details on the mannequin( where you bought it, what was the price, its exact name....)? Thanks in advance ;P

By the way I watched all your videos and you have an extraordinary talent!!!!!!!! I think you should start a business :D

    Good luck !

  • She's a fashion design + self modeling the same time ^^
