In this episode we tackle Agricola! Another favoured game of Ken and Jason's.
As I'm sure you've all noticed (because you're all so diligent!) we try to cover two relatively small games followed by a big game. Due to the nature of these big games (and the unfortunate limitation of upload sizes) the video is split into 3 parts.
As a heads up, Part 2 is a collection answers for FAQs of people playing Agricola for the first time. If you're in a rush, you could skip it (we wont cry!) but you should give it a look at some point to make sure you're on the right track!
Also, very little music this week due to technical problems. We'll try again next week.

But when do you draw new major or minor improvements? My wife and I got this board game and we're still having trouble with the exact gameplay - we haven't tried the family version yet. We've played Catan, and Puerto Rico etc, but having some trouble finding the exact rules for this game.

@auditorization Well, technically the way the game works, you receive your improvements/occupations (7 of each) at the beginning of the game and that is all.
However, all boardgames lend themselves to houserules, and Mr. Rosenberg (the game designer) is not going to jump out and kneecap you if you wanna change things up! Suggestions follow in the next comment..........

@2GASCB I think I'm getting it now, we might try it again tonight - (that's what she said lol)
We weren't displaying the major improvements out, we had been leaving them in a deck. Thanks.

@auditorization Tee hee.
Also ah, that would certainly complicate the major improvements. If you'll note there is actually a board that has a fade-image of all the major improvements. That goes beside the board and they are on display there.
Hope your next game goes smoother!

@auditorization Cont'....... I recommend 2 ways:
1) At any time, you can discard two cards of 1 type (Occ. or Imp.) to draw one of the same type.
2) discard 3-5 food (depending on your level of difficulty/skill) on your turn to draw a card (Occ. or Imp.). <-- That may seem like a lot, but drawing new cards during the game is actually quite powerful, and demands a sacrifice!
The first one is a variant in the rules. The second is one of mine.
Hope that helps!

@auditorization Oh! I thought you asked about Occupations/Minor Improvements.
The Major improvements can only be purchased on a "Take 1 Major Improvement" space, such as the one that comes up in Stage 1.
That make sense?
You shouldn't ever use the variants I suggested to take Major improvements, just so you know.
