January 18, 2008 marks the 50th anniversary of the first Black player to play in the NHL. He broke the colour barrier, and paved the way for future Black and other minority players in the great game of hockey.
This is TSN's feature on Willie O'ree and other Black players in the NHL.

I have a multicultural son and want him to play hockey. I am a football and hockey fan.

Subban is the future? Hahahaha.
Hes ranked at a whopping 232nd in points thus far. Hes garbage offensively, and on top of that, he cant even throw his fists around. Hes a weak player if you ask me.

@CheddarBob39 So there is no racism in hockey? So a fan never threw a banana at Wayne Simmonds, and Black players don't deal with racial taunts in the Juniors/Pros, those was made up. The fact is hockey doesn't bother much to increase diversity. And you say it takes time to learn the sport, well how can you learn the sport IF YOU AREN'T EXPOSED TO IT? Baseball, basketball, football, and even tennis, golf, auto racing, and extreme sports made efforts to increase diversity. Hockey, not so much.

@kooltomax
kind of makes sense when you look at it realistically and stop putting a "racial tone" on it that really if you think about it doesn't exist but in your own mind.
