por acaso só no RJ tem esse torneio, não vi em outros estados, isso não parece nada com aikido, se aikido presa paz e é uma arte de defesa como pode existir um campeonato daqui a pouco estão no vale-tudo falando que são lutadores de aikido!!!

good stuff - my impression of aikido went up. as great other aikido videos look, it's not clear what the demonstrators do if their partners offered any resistance at all. even that is good too, as long as people who show the pretty aikido also practice what is shown here

true but remember we are not talking about the "focus". yes boxing is mainly punching. but is that the "only" thing you learn? yes the main "focus" of aikido is interception&countering "but" is that "all" they do?

But what is the main focus of boxing, punching. Sure there are many other aspects that make you an actual practitioner, but aikido, as far as I know, has no offensive focus, just like a tae kwon do artist doesn't use grappling because although it is taught in very small amounts, the focus is very much in a totally different direction.

shodokan aikido. look it up. made by a guy who was a 5th dan in judo while studying under Morihei Ueshiba.

also saying aikido is "all" about countering is wrong. because the use of the word "all" in that statement directs the reader into believing aikido is "nothing" but countering. which is wrong.

its like saying boxing is "only" about punching. yes punching is a major part of boxing but without proper core training, footwork, breathing, countering and blocking your not a boxer :(
