  • This guy is comparing a fresnel to an open face instrument. Forget the aluminum vs plastic issue. The Arri has a LENS! The characteristics of the beam are totally different.

  • Question, do lone arri 650w tungstens come with plugs/cords? I know for many pro lights they come separately.

  • @Hacobo actually after attending NAB I decided the LED lights are the future (at least for me) so I got some on camera 312 bi color lights that are working really well...do you know if there's any solutions for having any sort of barn door type deal on an LED light?

  • @Desmo5150 I still refer to them as barn doors, sometimes get empty looks when I do though.

  • @Hacobo Do you want to light for video or stills? Because alien bees are strobe lights.

  • Britek is not plastic, it's metal, i have one.

  • ARRI is the motion picture standard in lighting, German made, quality is 110% than anything else. ARRI's are well built. I would recommend putting a video for the counterfit ARRI lights on Ebay made in China verses the real ARRI lights. That would be a better story. Sure ARRI's cost more but I would rather spend for quality any day.

Good intro video and making the effort to showing us the comparsion. Good point between the two lights.

  • backlighting.

  • Did we stop using the term BARN DOORS?

Maybe its cutting edge using the term "Flags"

Is it open the barn doors or open the flags?

I know flags live on barn doors but I digress.

Nice to do the video though. thanks

  • ARRI make a 650W lamphead like the Britek one, but you probably won't find it in the USA - It's the European Redhead, 800W in Europe, 650W in US - which is why you have 1kW Redheads which use a different length lamp.

  • You might mention to swap bulbs rather than use dimmers to maintain accurate color cast
