This ASHP (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists) accredited program prepares students for practice as Pharmacy Technicians performing a wide variety of tasks in both retail and hospital pharmacies under the supervision of a pharmacist. Students develop skills in all areas of pharmacy practice such as computer order entry, pharmaceutical calculations, record keeping, mixing intravenous solutions, and compounding of products to be dispensed. Special emphasis is on product knowledge and learning detailed information regarding drugs. Externship experience in retail and hospital pharmacies is included. A state license is required of all those who work in this field and is obtained after passing the National Certification Exam and applying to the Washington State Board of Pharmacy.
Everybody knows how every health care professional is indispensable in the hospital setting. The problem is with the bullshit that needs to be delt with on a day to day basis. It is like a war on the hospital battle field usually because of low self esteem issues with some of the staff. I remember the tremendous abuse that i endured as an emergency medical technician from doctors who sometimes are simply clueless. That was the reason of the advice given in my first post.

Spoiled rat huh? It is funny but the reason that I am a doctor is because of not being spoiled and taking the heat of the real world. You are absolutely right about answering to superiors but with Dentists, Doctors or Pharmacists you can be that superior eventually or be your own boss if opening a private practice. People with the same profession usually refer to you as a junior colleague even if "bullied" and very unfortunately the "technicians" and "assistants" are downright abused.

@southparkresident It's true that Walgreens does not have that many job opportunities for people that want full time jobs.

@PhysiologicAli Most people have to gain some work experience (such as work as a pharmacy technician) before they can go to a pharmacy school.
If you don't want to be somebody's bitch, there are a lot of jobs that you can't do. Even if you are a doctor, when you work for a hospital, you will need to take the shit frome someone that's in the higher rank than you are.
I'm sorry, but you sound like a spoiled rat that can't take the heat in the real world.

This is from experience. Do not become a technician (Pharmacist, medical,Lab whatever..) because you will be somebodies bitch for your whole shitty career with limited pay and opportunities. Unless you are prepared to do all the mindless and dirty tasks this is not for you. Aim to be a doctor, dentist , pharmacist whatever... Good luck anyway.

@ZAUO I remember when I was applying, Walgreens said due to the economy, that they were cutting hours so finding a full time position is unlikley. Course I could be wrong. If you do make fifteen then that's not bad, I hope it works for you. You definitley don't live in my state with pay like that.

@southparkresident I work at walgreens as Service clerk my manager told me if I get my degree they would start me 15 per hour which is not that bad.

@dragonfruit102 Agreed. I paid for school and came out to make ten dollars an hour. Shitty job. It's not a light environment. Not to mention I don't trust the pharmaceutical companies. I should have known better.
