lol, no way. they were just going at a slower pace in a group, they weren't racing. bikes are probably the fast mode of transportation using just pure man power.

bikes hsould have a seperate lane completely seperated from the cars with something blocking between them so its safe..

wtf ever filly. Think about that logically, will ya? You can't just add a lane with a barricade on every street in every big city. Its a hell of alot easier for motorists and cyclists to just get along for christ's sake.
