Very well explained and great application.

you know man, people didn't think spin kicks & axe kicks would be practical, then Andy Hug began to use it with great success in K1, many thought grappling was not effective until the UFC, then they thought boxing & head kicks were useless until Maurice Smith became champ, Sakuraba dropped Vitor with spinning back kicks, Ryoto Machida is being credited as the guy to use traditional Karate effectively in the UFC.
;)

I appreciate the response. You didn't really answer the question though. If someone put the stick behind his back, I'd immediately rush him.
Like I said, I'm no expert on martial arts, but it just doesn't seem to work.
It looks cool, but it just seems like that's all it is.

the key is to think like your doing but direct it in a way where your thinking, how can I make this work? What am I lacking, how did the inventors use this? etc. and just keep practicing ;)
Thank you this response from our video!!!

Hey cool combo!!!
Wat is the back shot for?
Is it a deflection?

@jesuskopp thanx for watching! I assume it's for multiple purposes including deflection as you noted, but I would think it's more of a warning for someone wanting to attack from behind.

Hi there,
That gives me one heck of a workout when I do it with the sword. the extraweight of the metalblade and the unusual angels tell me abut muscles I never knew I had. Deinitely improves overall stick skill.
Further, I think I saw something similiar in some of the star wars light saber duels. So if you are a stunt coordinator this move comes in handy. Flashy, and certainly very exploitable with various camera angles.
I se many practical apps as well
take care and have a nice day

great training with a sword or anything heavier :)
I've tried to help SW fans to help increase quality in their choreography. Because people who don't understand combat making combat scenes is unfortunate.
