@alphacamera can i set this flash up to a cannon t3i?

so does the external flash have a sensor that reacts to the flash built into the camera?

@alphacamera if you use the built in flash to trigger the off shoe flash doesn't that mean your subject will get light from both ends OR is the camera smart enough (of have setting) to know that you only want to trigger but NOT "use" the light coming from the built in flash?

@Mikenopolis Built in flashes are surprisingly weak, I almost never used flash to trigger wireless flashes since they have to be within a good working distance which i never liked. Also this is very hard outdoors. That being said remember you aperture controls flash exposure so if you seen a little pop up flash in your shot, i personally would just stop down a tiny bit and it should clear it up

@alphacamera thanks for the reply. I actually used my f58am along with a f20am as the trigger last weekend. Reach distance was surprising actually I think it was about 30 yards and it still went off. I'm still a n00b at using flash since I shoot more nature anyway.

Yup it will fire wirelessly only if it picks up your flash. You can buy wireless triggers that connect to it that send radio signal so you can extend the length and control. cheap sets run from 25 to $50 normally from what i seen. I have a video of the set i bought
