this horse means the world to me and to see how agressive he can be hurts, i cant understand why he has this horrid side.

After my acciddent i started to believe it, when people said he's crazy, needs putting down.
I wanted to sell him but deep down i was giving up on the one thing that keeps me going. LEWI.

Why the reares?
why the bucks?
why the bolting?
why do you hate people?
why cant we go back to the way it was?
i love you lewi i know your young and will come out.
people telling me i cant help him, he needs to go.


i have now turned him away for 5 months, i am going to the States for 2 months may0july and was going to do it anyway, but after my accident where he nearly broke my neck and nearly killed him self mum put him for sale. I had to fight to keep him for the 5 time in 10 months. The agreed to letting me turn him away untill after my trip and bring him back a month before my shows start.

THE ACCIDENT
i went for a ride up the mountain on my own with lewi like always and he was such a good boy. On the way home after about an hour and a half he started playing up so i took him for a canter up a nice path but he bolted down, in flat out gallop i lost both my stirups and couldnt hold on. I never felt as if i was falling but i new i had to let go because there was a cliff. Don't get me wrong i LOVE him loads but i am 19 and didn't want to die. When i let go i face planted into the ground and landed on my head twisting my neck around, i heard a pop and thought my neck had broken but then i looked up to see lewi go off the side. I forgot about the pain and worried about Lewi, i called the farmer to bring a gun to shoot him incase he had broken his legs or neck. I got up to go find him thinking i was going to find him hurt but he was at the bottom on his feet and looking up to me, so i made my way down and waited for my mum and friends to come help me. Once the pain had gone kind of, i got on and rode him home with my mum in the car behind and my friend walking with us.

Cant forgive my self for letting him go but it could of killed both of us if i hadnt.

i think u did the right thing more people care about you then anyone cares him people love him but you have a family and life ahead of you i know how you feel im 13 and when i was 10 i was on my pony and we were on the mountains he did the same thing i jumped off and went to go see him if he was alive but he fell and splat his head pooped off and was flat like a pancake i still have dreams about him he was the best pony you could have and it all atrted because of a deer

@MiseryMare I THINK you need to grow the hell up. A horse is a lot stronger than i am. When a horse takes flight, theres not much you can do to stop it. When your faced with a cliff and you no your horse is not going to stop!!!! come back and tell me all about it. Untill then GET LOST. Thanks

Your brave you should be proud of yourself:) I hate it when people give up on horses! I never gave up on my welshy and she now competes against 16.2s and wins:)! never give up! Tbf i ould of done the same thing if you have no other way of stopping them/turning then the best thing to do is jump off its not worth risking both lives at all! Id of done the same!<3

Wow, the accident sounds really bad :( Hope you still have him and are making great progress. He looks lovely and you look like a great rider. Look, let the haters hate, they're so not worth it !! Never give up!! I have a pony & hes 6 and hes my first pony ever (im 11) and ive had him since may 2011 and ive had difficulties with him but im building so much confidence with him now, so i hope thats what happens with you and lewi. @Shaysta2 Just seen this comment. You really wouldnt no untill you have a horse like him or see him in the flesh. Trust me. I have had the vet offer to put him down. I thought he could have a brain problem but with out spending £$£$£ on it and then putting him down if it turns out he does il never no whats wrong with him. I cant say hes happy and i cant say hes not but hes out in the field and every one is still alive so i think hes fine.

I had the same dispute with my old thoroughbred. he was such a sweet horse (to me) and he really did love me, but towards the end of our show season he wouldn't leave long. when i first got him he would stop. and then he would take off when we were jumping. he just wasn't very safe. i hope you figure out something that works for you! i'm so lucky to have found my dream horse!
