Killing Me Softly With His Song

"Killing Me Softly with His Song" is a 1971 song composed by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel. It has been covered by numerous artists, most notably by Roberta Flack. This is my own arrangement of the song for piano.

According to Lori Lieberman, the singer who first recorded it, the song was created due to poem she wrote after a strong reaction from seeing a Don McLean concert. She related this to Gimbel, who took her feelings and wrote the lyrics. Then Gimbel took the words and passed them on to Fox who set them to music. I think there was a rumor that Flack wrote the song after seeing McLean in concert. She won a Grammy for singing it, however.
