This is my Walkera 4G3 I have converted to run on a Spektrum DX7 system after being unable to get a good standard configuration.
Components: Blue Arrow 3 in 1, Losi 8750Kv with Std pinion, Micron V2 tail motor on a 4#3 tail assy, 130Mah 3 cell lipo pack.

  • damn!!! walkera vg3 with a 3s lipo? must be pretty freaking heavy

  • @rockonmyfriend

It was a lipo that was 4grams heavier than the stock batt.

  • how did you convert it?

  • @codfish124

    Hi Mate,

I wouldn't convert one now that the 4G6 is available. Mine flies well and has loads of power but the motor and the batteries have not lasted longer than 6 months.

If you want to convert one look on the rcgroups forum for one of the latest solutions.

Visit the website of Terance from Chinese Jade for the 4G6 conversion.

  • @Sirricardo6 ok so it was one of the low miliamp ultralight ones... didnt it come with a 1 cell lipo?

  • can you make a video on how you did the conversion. thanks

  • Can you give all the exact specs on what you have and how it is hooked up? I am looking to do this myself & would like all the help I can get. Also I am just starting to look into this, so if there is a specific forum with info, feel free to point me in that direction instead.

    Thanks in advance :-)

  • The problem with any motorized tail is that it must speed up or slow down to initiate corrections or to piro one way or the other. A driven tail ( shaft or belt ) turns at the same speed all the time and changes pitch to correct or to piro. Driven is a much more accurate and fast system.

  • I find they don't last long, which is understandable because I am running it on a higher voltage than they are rated at.

In any case, if you crash with them when the motor is powered, the brushes burn out. Their response to the gyro input is not as good. Often. as the battery voltage drops, you loose tail control.

Check out the forums, there are lots of people trying to convert them.

  • what is the problem with motorised tails? Ive read what you said a few times, but dont know why.

I've got a 4g3 and my brushless is coming during this week, I've chosen walkeras brushless kit.
