Little Roy Wiggins was his Steel Player, he gave him the nickname
Mr. Ting-a-ling which relates to Roy's style of playing.
I have put in a few Ting-a-lings in his honor.

  • Hi James

I've just spent a really enjoyable hour listening to some of your posts. Excellent stuff. Having played guitar for many years, I'm now having a go at 6string lap steel in C6. CEGACE. Can I ask which tuning you use on your six strings, and what guage strings? The scale length of mine is 21" with 36 30 26 22 17 15 fitted but they seem very light, or perhaps I'm using too heavy a bar. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards. Neil. [Boston UK]

  • Thank you Bernie for listening to my song and for your very kind words.

I try to mix my recording between the Old and the New and I'm glad you liked this song.

    James.

  • James : You are my kind of picker on your lap steel; a fine job, indeed , on this old eddy Arnold song. He and Little roy were two of my all time favorites. Roy made Eddy what he turned out to be with his great playing his Tin-a-ling guitar. I bought my first pedal steel from a music store in Nashville that L.Roy was manager of bacck in the early 70's...But learned to love his style when he worked on Eddy's recordings.. Thanks for sharing your talent with us..Happy Holidays..Bernie
