Mother India (Hindi: भारत माता, Urdu: بھارت ماتا) is a 1957 Bollywood movie directed by Mehboob Khan, nominated for Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1957. The film is a remake of Mehboob Khan's earlier film Aurat (1940).
In 2005, Indiatimes Movies ranked the movie amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films.
Credits; * Cast: Nargis, Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar, Raaj Kumar, Kanhaiyalal, Sajid Khan, Chanchal * Dialogues: S. Ali Raza * Music: Naushad * Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni * Story, Screenplay, Producer & Direction: Mehboob Khan.
Trivia; * Nargis had long been romantically linked with director and actor Raj Kapoor, but in the end married Sunil Dutt, who co-starred with her in this movie. The marriage seemed scandalous to many at the time, because Sunil had played her son in the movie. * Rajendra Kumar, who plays Nargis's eldest son and Sunil Dutt's brother in the movie also became a part of their family later on, when his son Kumar Gaurav, married Dutt and Nargis's daughter Anju(Namrata Dutt). * The film grossed over Rs.40 million. This record was beaten 3 years later by Mughal-E-Azam in 1960. * This was the first Indian film to ever be nominated in the "Best Foreign Language Film" category at the Oscars in 1957, though Nights of Cabiria eventually got the award. It would not be until 1988, with Salaam Bombay, when India would again be represented at the Oscars. * Sunil Dutt famously saved Nargis during the fire sequence. Nargis was shown trapped inside a raging fire while Sunil Dutt jumps in and saves her. But the blaze roared out of control leaving Nargis stranded. Sunil Dutt quickly grabbed a blanket and plunged inside and, wrapping the blanket around themselves, the twosome ran out. It meant several, painful burns for Sunil but it also resulted in Nargis falling in love with him. They were married within a year....

Shamshad Begum (April 14, 1919) is an Indian singer who was one of the first playback singers in the Hindi film industry.
Begum was born in Amritsar, Punjab. She was a big fan of K.L. Saigal and watched Devdas 14 times. She earned 15 rupees per song and was awarded 5000 on the completion of the contract on Jenaphone.
Sometime back, a controversy erupted in the media, when several publications, gave the false news of her death, before it was clarified that the Shamshad Begum who died in 1998 was Saira Banu's (Dilip Kumar's wife) grandmother with the same name, and the legendary singer, has been living with her daughter Usha Ratra and son-in-law in Mumbai, ever since her husband, Ganpat Lal Batto died in 1955. Recently, she celebrated her 89th birthday at her elder sister's house and now she stays at Powai, Mumbai....
Begum became a national rage between the 1940s and the late 1950s rendering songs with her nasal voice, which helped her carve her independent image--a voice different from her peers, Lata, Asha, Geeta, and Amirbai Karnataki.....

Thank you for the information. I really appreciate that. I searched every where but could not get more details except the fact that she had been acting in many films until 1961 [Jhumroo], according to IMDb and Wikipedia. After that, no trace can be found.
