i would doubt that, he knew about grappling but he didn't like it very much. He believed that the quickest way to end the fight was to reach over and knock him out. He did teach his students quick takedowns but he was never an advocate of grappling .

In the Tao of Jeet Kune Do, Lee said that boxing and wrestling were the best fighting styles at the time.

yea that is true but he never taught any of his students to get into a submission grappling situations.
anyways, he didn't know of gracies back then, who knows JKD might have changed dramatically if he was alive to see the gracies

I know he didn't teach his students submission grappling....he didn't know of it. That's the point. Once he learned how effective it was he would've started studying it...the guy was obsessed with fighting.

well said, but jeet kune do doesn't change because it isn't a style. It's just a DO that says "Use no way as way, and no limitation as limitation". At least that's the way i interpret it.

true true. I have nothing against grappling. Grappling for JKD should be as simple as possible with more emphasis on hitting the guy and less on the joint locks and chokes. my point was, grappling was there before the gracies came into the scene. Bruce saw it but he did not like it very much.
