This documentary offers a broad historical, social, political and religious overview of the early Christian faith from its inception to roughly the 3rd century CE.
What a twisted evil idiot! This "suggests to us"" ? It does nothing of the kind. These evil liars exploit the argument from silence for all the evil people in the world that are starving for reasons not to believe.
Paul and Peter were good. They agreed after the confrontation and later Peter defends Pauls writings against attack by the unlearned.
Woe to you unbeliving scum of the earth demonic wretched hoard!
I think she just used bad word choice. By "food" she means "meals" or something similar, probably. She's saying that it's petty to argue about where and with whom you eat. It's nothing compared to real problems that jews and christians had to deal with just 20-30 years later, i.e. war and roman persecution which lasted over a century. It does seem kind of ridiculous that the 2 main christian issues at the time were circumcision and meals
this video is wrong. Paul confronted Peter because he was showing favoritism and partiality when he stopped breaking bread with the gentile belivers because of the Jewish believers. Peter then began to preach that Gentiles must follow the law of the jews in order to be saved and justified and be part of Christ's church. Paul rebuked peter for his hypocrisy toward the True Gospel and for making up a new one. He did not "yell at Peter about food. Thats unscriptual. i'm not watching this anymore.
@Hunte9753 I would say no, because it would still of been seen as just a new Jewish sect. Most christians would be very jewish at this time, Paul is the one who really takes Jewish traditions, laws, etc out of it. But they would of been fallowing the teachings of Christ, so it would really be what you define as Christianity.
I think it's not true enough to say "official Christianity ... the 4th century ... Roman Catholicism founded by Constantine".
Yes, official Christianity, as the state religion, is founded by Constantine, but Christian religion/faith isn't founded by Constantine.
And it is not in the form of Roman Catholicism like today's Roman Catholicism. At that time, there is no separation of terms between Christian, Roman Catholicism, & Eastern Orthodox. All use the same terms to refer to the same Church.
You must remember that "Christianity" was not officialy settled upon. There were several sects originating in the first century including the Gnostics, Marcionites, Essenes, Ebionites and others. Eventually, after several Ecumenical Councils were convened, the cannon was eventually decided upon and official Christianity came about somewhere around the fourth century in the form of Roman Catholicism founded by Constantine.
