Many students ask or talk about shooting in "cadence" or rythm. Here is my recommendation.

  • How do you reconcile that with trigger control? When I try to do things that way I find some of my trigger breaks are rushed and I jerk the trigger and some are overly slow. When I shoot "in cadence" I find that my trigger control improves overall and I generally speed up with repetition. I'm not criticizing, just looking to understand better.

  • @MrMZaccone Two things:

    1. You should be prepping the trigger during the recoil cycle (that means releasing it and taking the slack out on 1911's or reset on Glocks, etc.).

    2. As John Shaw said to me: " patience." If you're tracking the sights, it should be pretty easy. One you break out of a cadence, you will be able to shoot faster.

  • @MrMZaccone

Patience also helps when you are shooting targets other than steel. When you are shooting steel, you can just break the shot as soon as you see the sight touch the target. When shooting paper or other targets, you have to have enough patience to wait for the sight to be in the center of the target before you break the shot. One of the most important concepts Iearned. I was always very fast, once I learned patience, my scores went up.

  • It only takes a flake of unburnt powder to damage your eyes. If you (or anyone around you) shoot steel, you will get hit by splatter. The list goes on and on. It's just not worth the risk. If you lose an eye, you can't replace it.

  • Beter accuracy when you don't shoot in cadence because you are on target when shooting. Good point!

  • @BlurredFace You probably don't shoot a whole lot, on paper it sounds silly, but when you are out there actual firing, especially when being timed. Think of when you are jogging, how often you tend to match your breaths to a certain beat, or when you are shooting free throws and you bounce the ball a set number of times.

Humans always want symmetry. If someone has two different color eyes, it looks weird. If you are shooting targets at an uneven pace, it feels weird, even if its actually faster

  • @shootingcoach I get "prepping" the trigger, I guess I just have to get better at knowing exactly where it breaks. I think what I've been doing is what you're referring to as prepping the trigger but in a sort of cadence. Maybe I'm not really as far off as I think. Thanks.

  • I just seem like common sense it shoot when you know it is pointed at the target, call me stupid.

  • How do I develop shooting fast in matches. Im the most accurate at our club, I clean mostly all my targets, but not the best on time.

  • @lllKushlll Whoa now, easy there "gangster" lol. Those of us that get up before noon and don't live at home with mom and dad don't need to explain ourselves to the likes of you. Read through the comments again sweetheart, or is it hard to see through the purple haze?

  • @3091181 your a bullshit claimer you dumb fuck you probably weren't even in the military asking for shooting tips on youtube and asking why people use fucking eye protection. hope you keep shooting and lose both ur eyes fuck face

  • @lllKushlll Take another puff, you sound more intelligent already. I've been shooting for many years son, without eye protection, and I'm just fine.
