@CrotalusKid1 I wrote you an answer, but I'm not sure, if it was sent properly (it's in the comments under the video)

the Naniwa Superstones are very good.. (I have a 3000/10000 combination). BUT one needs a little (!) bit of experience esp. on the higher grits (else it is easily possible to slice into the stone). The Na. Chosera shall better esp. in the lower grit regions till 3000 (are harder; shall be the very best anyway). So.. for ex. two Na. Su. St. combinations like one can buy them in Germany 200/1000 and 2000/5000 (= 100€) or some of the cheaper Na. combi "Work Stones"/"Home Series" (surely good, too)

@TheSlevaslava the higher the grit, the finer the stone. 200, 400 etc. (= coarse) for very dull edges (resp. to remove material/notches rel. fast = to build up an edge fast.. you can use a 10000 grit, too, but you need years to remove noches - if your knife has notches ...), 800, 1000. 1200 (mid fine) for normal sharpening, 3000, 5000, 8000, 10000 (fine till extremly fine) for finishing/polishing/honing the edge. 3000 - 5000 grit is normaly enough for kitchen knives. 10000 for straight razors.

can some one explain the grits im planing on buying a 600 grit diamond stone please help.
Do you not use a nagura stone to create a slurry first?
hanserclimbs 1 year ago
@hanserclimbs No, absolutely not. The nagura we have over here in the US are mostly garbage and will make a fine polishing stone more coarse. Now, I can't comment on all nagura, but anything I've ever tried was including a few natural nagura's which were better at least than the synthetic crap ones they include with some of the polishing stones.

what does the surface feel like to the touch on this stone? is it as smooth as glass?
SlayerSokka 2 years ago
Yeah, pretty much. You can not feel grit at this level.
